LOMBARDY

Mosnel

Coming from Lombardy, part of Italy's prestigious and rarely attributed DOCG,
lies the birthplace of Italy's finest sparkling wine, Mosnel, created by Emanuela Barboglio, the ‘Mother of Franciacorta’.

Italy.jpg

At the heart of the Franciacorta region, Mosnel’s centuries-old residence, 16th-century wine cellars and surrounding vineyards, are an eloquent testimony to the age-old winemaking traditions of this famous wine.
Inherited in 1836 by the Barboglio family, fourth-generation Emanuela Barboglio exchanged fruit trees for vines and planted the first specialized vineyards of the newly-introduced Franciacorta DOC designation.
One of the founders of the Fraciacorta Consortium, establishing DOCG recognition in 1995, Emanuela is considered the ‘Mother of Fraciacorta’, with her children Giulio and Lucia now at the helm.

Everything makes Mosnel Franciacortas utterly distinctive…the siting of the vineyards Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir – in the same microclimate, at a vineyard density of a minimum of 5,000 vines per hectare, a determination to ensure a low yield per vine, the precisely correct time for harvest, picking exclusively by hand, use of a specialized bladder press, a painstaking attention to detail emerges.

‘For five generations, time and expertise have taught us how to transform our grapes into excitement.’

Mosnel Franciacortas are beautiful wines with the tiniest of bubbles dancing on the palate. Warm and sunny summer days are alternated by chilly nights providing the grapes with an exceptional opportunity to develop without losing acidity.

From the fine aromatic profile of the Brut, to the delicate nuances of the Rosé, to the uniqueness of the Pas Dosage and elegance of the vintage Satèn, all the Mosnel Franciacortas are gorgeous in their specific style. Combined with the history of the estate, the family's ongoing passion, and their recent viticultural advancement, Mosnel Franciacortas are irresistible and we are delighted to introduce them to you.

Its gold-edged, powder-pink hue hints at fresh-picked redcurrants and cherries on the nose, which then develop into ultra-crisp apricot and wild strawberry, peony petals and blood oranges, plus a subtle vein of fresh almond and cotton candy. It opens generous, warm, and full in the mouth, with energy-laden impressions of succulent, fresh-picked pomegranate and red apple, a complex wine enlivened by a slender yet tangy sapidity.
