Château La Rose Figeac

From the smallest of the finest and only unclassified major region in Bordeaux, we find Pomerol and Nathalie Despagne’s legacy of terroir.

In 1961, Louis Rapin maternal grandfather of Nathalie Despagne and owner of Château La Tour Figeac bought his neighbour's property in the Pomerol appellation. Around this small estate, he combined various plots and renamed the entire property Château La Rose Figeac.

Following a succession within the Rapin and Despagne family - winemakers in Saint Emilion for over two centuries -  grand-daughter Nathalie Despagne inherited this beautiful estate in 2013 initiating significant vineyard restructuring and modern facility construction.

Situated in the heart of Pomerol, this estate features a 4-hectare vineyard with a distinctive terroir of gravelly sands, yielding globally acclaimed vintages under the stewardship of this wonder woman winemaker.

Elegant, fresh and well-balanced, Nathalie’s winemaking emphasizes on the true expression of the terroir and has been organic since 2009. Her vineyards of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) yield wines characterized by purity, depth, freshness, and density. Nathalie, inspired by her grandfather's passion, considers herself on a mission to honor the family legacy.

Incorporating an environmental focus, Nathalie works to harmonize with the ecosystem, demonstrating respect for the elements. Living amidst the vines, Nathalie's daily observation informs her approach, ensuring a gentle enhancement of the terroir from vineyard to glass.

Chateau La Rose Figeac Pomerol 2018 is an epitome of vinous perfection, a near flawless symphony of flavors that unfolds with each sensory revelation. From the captivating first whiff, it effortlessly ticks every box for an exceptional Pomerol experience. The velvety smooth palate, characteristic of this luscious appellation, showcases a harmonious medley of complexities.

While already a delight, Chateau La Rose Figeac 2018 promises a sublime evolution with time, making procrastination a luxury one can ill afford. Don't wait—this wine, guided by Nathalie's expertise, is a transformative journey waiting to be embraced.

Tasting Notes

Very aromatic, fruity and fresh on the nose. Blackberry, elderberry jelly, plum, mocha and fig leaf. Velvety smooth tannins and superb length. A wine that has ageing potential, but can already be enjoyed when young.
