RHÔNE VALLEY

Julien
Mus

Amidst the enchanting Vaucluse, this biodynamic estate is crafting exquisite wines, capturing Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s timeless beauty.

Nestled between the towns of Orange, Avignon, and Carpentras in the Vaucluse is where you'll find winemaker Julien Mus and his Domaine de la Graveirette. With the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux to the east and the hills of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the west the wines of this estate are marked by a finesse and freshness not often associated with those from the south of France.

After breaking tradition and heading off to Beaune to study winemaking in Burgundy, he returned and, as a young vigneron, sold his harvest to the local Cooperative. In 2005, with the intent and desire to craft his own wines, ones of quality and character, Julien branched out on his own to found Domaine de la Graveirette.

Working organically since 2012 and biodynamically since 2015, Julien shows great care in the cultivation of his grapes and the winemaking process, harvesting by hand, not employing additives, and using minimal sulfur.

All of Julien’s wines, from the Châteauneuf du Papes to the IGP and table wines, are marked by a distinct character: refreshing acidity balanced with round, complex fruit. In a warm wine region such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Julien still manages to bring a 'Burgundian' finesse and elegance to the glass.
